Tuija Teiska (b.1985) lives and works in Helsinki.

 

Tuija Teiska’s art works include layered textile art, object collages, sculptures and performances.

Teiska uses everyday objects, household objects and textiles in her art. Familiar and safe objects lose their original meaning when she gives them a threatening presence disappearing under the black webs.

 

Tuija Teiska has been studying art ten years at three different schools in Finland.

During the years 2002-2003, she was an exchange student at the Academy of St. Petersburg.

Tuija Teiska graduated at the University of the Arts Helsinki master´s degree in Fine Arts 2016.

Tuija Teiska has had numerous exhibitions since 2003 in Finland as well as abroad.

These include Sculpture Heute at the German - Finnish Institute in Berlin 2013, Wooden Bride at the Galerie Atelier Herenplaats in Rotterdam 2011, last spring she was taking part of conference Nordick Textile Art Bergen 2016 where she was one speaker.

 

Tuija Teiska’s works can be found in collections of the Finnish State Art Collections, Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection, EMMA Museum of Modern Art, Aineen Art museum Finland, Joensuu Art Museum Finland, Tampere Art Museum's collections Finland and private art collections.
